Following the conclusion of the historic EU\u2013Canada Summit of Youth NGOs in Montr\u00e9al, ten leading youth organizations across Europe and Canada have officially established a permanent institutional framework for transatlantic cooperation. These entities co-signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to launch the EU\u2013Canada Youth Alliance (EUCYA), also legally referred to under its co-equal French name, Alliance Jeunesse UE-Canada (AJUEC). The newly formed international non-profit organization of Belgian law introduces a structured framework to ensure that young people are not merely observers of transatlantic policies, but active partners who contribute meaningfully to the evolving Canada\u2013EU partnership.<\/div>\n

The alliance brings together a powerful bloc of founding organizations dedicated to driving regional dialogue, youth civic engagement, and international relations. In addition to Young European Leadership (YEL), the initial signatories include Citizens for Europe, the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS), the Polish National Youth Council (PROM), the Young Federalists of Europe (JEF Europe), the Canadian Muslim Youth Alliance (CMYA), NATO Youth Canada, Vote 16 Canada, Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC), and the Young Politicians of Canada (YPC), with provisions to explicitly include two Canadian Indigenous youth organizations as founding members. Together, these entities have ratified a formal governance model designed to institutionalize youth participation on a global scale.<\/div>\n

Through a newly adopted constitution, EUCYA will facilitate joint programs, negotiations workshops, cross-regional community projects, and policy advocacy aimed at presenting unified youth perspectives at future multilateral forums. By moving past isolated, temporary consultations, the alliance aims to create a sustainable, continuous channel for transatlantic policy formulation.<\/div>\n
